I am a 6th grade social studies teacher and a student brought in this coin. I cant figure out where it is from. It is definitly Russian-related. Please help! It was minted in 2008 and is 1 COM and I cant figure out how to post a pic of the coin.

There are 2 tutorials for uploading pictures - one is directly through the forum (there is a size limit on the pictures) and one is uploading to Photobucket then posting the link here.

I believe you're talking about 1 som of (a former USSR republic) Uzbekistan

Although Uzbekistan switched to the Latin Alphabet years ago. Then It could be Kyrgyzstan! Does it look like this?

I-Can't-Find-Where-This-Coin-Is-From
If yes, then it's new currency of Kyrgyzstan (they used Russian rubles till very recently)

It was the coin in the picture. Thank You I have been looking for a month! I guess because it is so new there wasn't much info on it
