Just wondering what the value of this coin might be and how rare it might be? The date on the coin (I believe it to be based on a conversion chart from arabic to english) is 1277. How do you know if it's a 100 or a 50, etc? The pics below are taken from another page and I know the date doesn't match up to the one below. Also, any history about it? Thanks for any info.

TCC- In the top picture I can clearly see the date at the bottom of the coin, which is 1336. This converts to 1936AD. Sorry, but your coin certainly is not 13th century (Plus your coin being a modern struck coin argues to it being from the past century).

I believe that this coin is KM # 821 in the Krause Catalog. I must admit that I do not know enough about this type of coin to tell which of the 5 years that had the date 1336 your coin is, but all 5 are listed as being worth more than bullion in higher grades. In fact, all but the date AH1336/1 had very small mintages. SO I have a feeling that your coin is quite rare.

Thanks for the info. I should've just added the pics of my coins instead of taking them from the internet, so here they are. Are the dates 1277? (I know they're not considered 13th century though). Thanks!

TCC- Ah, now I see. Yes, I would strongly advise using pictures of your actual coins so that it does not cause this kind of mix up.

Yes, those do have the frozen date of AH1277. But since this type of coin had that date for 15 years I am not quite certain which exact year this is. Either way they are all about equal in their rarity and are worth a wee bit over bullion value. Due to the fact that coins of this type are often melted or holed in order to have been made into jewelry your coins are in fact rather scarce.

1277 (AD 1861) is the year of ascension of Abdul Aziz. The reignal year is on the other side under "tougra". The left coin is yr. 1 (1862), the right one is yr. 3 (1864)

Edit: the coin pictured at the top of the thread is dated AH 1336 (ascension of Muhammad VI) yr. 1 (AD 1917).
