So I am road tripping from Canada to California and I figured I would get a roll or 2 of dollars see if I could add some to my Presidential dollar collection. I get my first roll open it up only to find 25 Fillmore dollars!! At least I have a few good Fillmore dollars now, will have to try again tomorrow see if I can get some older ones

Try stopping at a rest stop and using the vending machine. I put a $5 into one here in FL last week and got 3 different Pres Dollars in change, including a BU Washington.

If you want variety, don't buy the rolls. It's rare for these to have been in circulation and then re-rolled. 99% will be fresh from the mint waiting to see the light of day. Here are two other places to find them in change: Transit kiosks and car washes. At the car washes they are dispensed from the change-maker for use in the self-service washes. Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

Quote: car washes Yup, I even got some Sacagawea's from a car wash awhile back.... The "condition" of them was H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E........but.....they were there ! Also, if you peer into the cash registers at Quick Shops, gas stations, etc., etc., you can often spot some of the older dollars or Sac's....then you ask to buy them, and they're usually happy to oblidge ! .....

Forrest Gump would love the Dollars at my local car wash. "You never know what you're going to get" One week I get a handful of BU Fillmore-D's, the next week I get some nice Sac's and even two SBA's. Indeed, I never see 'mixed circulated' rolls of 26.5mm Dollars....

In my business, we give out dollar coins. I typically get about three or four rolls a week from my branch bank (Bank of America)and, except right when a new dollar coin comes out, they give me hand wrapped rolls of mixed dollars, usually one or two SBA's, the rest about half and half mixed Sacs and Presidentials. I have no idea where all these mixed rolls are coming from, but they are almost always able to supply me my three or four rolls a week.

Put $20 into a NJ Transit ticket machine to buy a $5 fare and you will end up with a pocket full of coins to clunk about all day!

According to Coin World, the Fillmore dollars have the lowest mintage of the prez dollars to date!

I think those mintages will keep dropping. The public interest isn't anywhere near what they'd hoped for. The Lincoln mintage may jump.....but after that, its a long stretch of "who cares" before they get to another interesting Presidential dollar.

The Abraham Lincoln Dollar this year will definately be "popular".....and that'll get some attention ! But, yeah, after that, I agree, I bet they just mint a "token" amount ! (no pun intended ! LoL )

Dollars from a car wash...hmmm...around here, if you put a twenty in a car wash changer, you would be trying to find the attendant to put more quarters in the machine to finish paying you off.

I put a $20 bill in a parking garage pay machine for a $6 fee and got 14 dollars back. It was a mix of pres.,sac. and one SBA. I had 6 millard Fillmore's,a James Monroe,a John Tyler and a few more I forget. I don't collect them so I sold them to my coin shop guy at face and he made me a great deal on a coin I needed.
