Here are the 2010 RedBook values. I am surprised at the numbers for F-12 grades for these types!

1913 Var 2 = $12
1913 D Var 2 = $175
1914 D $150
1915 S = $100
1921 S = $200

Are you buying these or selling?

Well, I'd take them off your hands for $1 each. LOL.

Seriously though - it seems like I've watched auctions with many of these dates range from 10% BV to 40% BV. It is hard to tell why some ended low and others ended high. The whole restored dates term scares off alot of 'purists' while others are thrilled to add a key to their album at 30-40% of the cost of a non-restored date coin.

I have a 14D restored date, paid just under $10 in an auction, and have a BUNCH of buffs I want to restore with nic-a-date, just need to pick some up. I will say the 14D I got was not in as good of shape as I'd hoped......but that happens sometimes in online purchases.

Good luck.

Generally 10-30% of G4 is what the restoreds go for. Like 13S T2 restored runs $30-50, as an example

Afcop13, using Nic-A-Date leaves a really ugly dark mark over the date. When my son gets dateless Buffaloes, we just soak them in white vinegar in a glass container. The date usually comes up, and the nickels look pretty much the same as when we began soaking.

Thanks Andrew. I'll stop at the store on the way home tonight to pick up some vinegar to give that a shot. I have about 250 "dateless" Buffs, and 30 or so have mintmarks.

If I could get $10 for a restored date 1914-D or $30 for a restored 1913-S type 2 I would be THRILLED, do you think I could really get that much?

Afcop13, you'll need to know that the vinegar can take a few days, rather than giving you a result right away the way Nic-A-Date does. It's interesting to watch the progress as the date starts to emerge.
