I couldn't believe they (a coin store)sold these as BU. Anyone else run into this sort of thing in older original bank rolls when you pop them open? This is upsetting to find them this way. What do/can I do with them now? I'm sure there non returnable now I opened them. Do I just throw them in the copper hoard bucket?

I only paid $3.95 for the roll so I'm not out a bunch but I will be afraid now to buy any more original rolls.

This happens ALL the time. I've cracked many OBW rolls only to find nasty, corroded coins. Yea, it sucks, but it's all part of the game. Many, many BU Lincoln rolls were improperly stored, few of them have survived the years without turning to junk. These days, I prefer to buy rolls in tubes so I can see the quality myself.

It happens. The coin dealer probably did not know it as he was selling a bank roll. Just add them to your copper pile. Enjoy it when you find truly bu coins that have been stored properly when you get the next roll. Sincerely, John Leckrone

Did you know they looked like that before you bought them? No. Neither did the dealer. And if he had opened up the roll to check and make sure they weren't corroded, would you have paid him the premium for an original unopened roll? No. So basically you are wanting him to examine them and not sell them as BU if they are corroded, but don't open the roll to actually look at them. I sure would say you got stung, I sure you can't return them, they have been sorted around moisture somewhere, I feel for you, and sure I might have some like that also in older rolls I have.
