In the case of this specific issue, most of the major pickups for grading are present. The reverse with
Shield nickels (assuming it isn't radically out-of-whack with the obverse) doesn't get as much scrutiny as the obverse since there's very little fine detail there - only the interiors of the stars, and those could be a function of strike quality.
Most important when grading these are the shield and leaves; one can draw some pretty educated conclusions about a
Shield nickel with just those visible. I think the grade mentioned is accurate, maybe 5 points conservative (but I'm an optimist

).
