Is there anything going on with the motto on this '92P? Mostly on EPU and UNU? There is nothing listed at coppercoins for me to compare this to.

Scooby, not positive, but this appears to be a trail die to me. Very hard to photograph. I believe I see spikes coming off some of the letters at an angle. Play with the lighting and angle of the picture to see if you can get a better view. Also check US of A lettering for spikes.

Thanks, witty. I've been studying up on the minting process and starting to understand how/why errors occur. I understand how the doubling occurs during the hubbing process, but they don't really give any examples on how to recognize the spread. All the notching and separation photos they give are obvious.

Morgan, other than being aware of the term die trails and the website, I haven't really studied up on those and I'm not sure exactly what it is I'm looking for. The only thing I've ever really looked for are the wavy steps. I think I have found 2, but if I posted pics I'd probably be wrong on that, too.

Scooby, here's some pics of a 1993, late die state, trail die. Most of the trails have disappeared from use of dies during the production run. You can still see the pointed tops of lettering in UNUM and distorted lettering is the Ts of states.

Go ahead and post what you think are wavy steps. We've all had our disappointments here on the Forum.
