After reading some of the posts and seeing what you have found, I might give this a try. I live in Chandler AZ and there is a LOT of desert and mountains to search. Maybe something cool is waiting for me out there. How much $$$ is needed to get a dectent detector and what other supplies would I need ?

Hi Kerry

There are a couple of good entry level detectors which can be bought for around 250.00, the Ace 250 which is the detector that nohope uses, and the whites prizmII both are about the same for features.

for other equipment, a good canteen since your summer hunting is alot like mine, desert and hot !!! , a digging tool, I use an old K-bar for most of my digging, but they make digging tools which work pretty well.

And then just a bit of research to help your hunts be more productive.

Rick

I bought a Bounty Hunter Lone Star Detector and added a good set of headphones and a balistic nylon carrying bag for right at $200. The Lone Star is a exellent starter detector with a lot of features of more expensive detectors. I have heard as Rick said, the Ace 250 is also an exellent entry level detector. I use an old bayonet for digging with. They have a thick blade and hard to damage.

I wish I could have a go, but over here we do not have the history you have so our finds would not be as interesting.

Hmmm maybe I could still give it a go?
