We have 1000 miles of coast line. Might
try that. Find a nice camping area, one
with electric and water. Go out during
the day and have a fine Bar-b-que and
fire at nite.

I have a Bounty Hunter. I don't remember the model but it was $100 at Wal-mart 4 years ago. You can always upgrade if you really like detecting. If you have not bought one yet check a couple of pawn shops.

I too have a "Bounty Hunter" and I've had it for years. It works well and is more than sufficient for a beginner. As best I can tell, it will detect 6-8 inches under the surface.

I am thinking about getting into metal detecting it sounds fun. I may just have to get me one of these bounty hunter ones since they seem to be the most popular.
