Benin 2010 Famous Plants of the World Scented Coin - Marijuana Cannabis Sativa 100 Francs Proof with Color and Aroma Marijuana The plant known as hemp has always engendered controversy. Technology Note - Aroma The official certificate, signed by the chemist, perfumer or parfumier who developed the scent or aroma for the Republic of Benin 2010 Famous Plants of the World Scented Coin - Marijuana Cannabis Sativa 100 Francs Proof with Color and AromaThis revolutionary coin is the first in the new, scented Famous Plants of the World series. Each coin will feature the aroma of the plant in questions. Each fragrance has been developed by a professional perfumer (parfumier) using a chemical formula to replicate or reproduce the odor of the famous plant in question. The scent is of the scratch and sniff variety, but nevertheless can be distinctly detected without resorting to actually touching the coin. You can't get high by sniffing this coin. There is no TCH (tetrahydrocannabinol) or any other cannabinoids on this coin, and it is not illegal to own. The certificate presented in this article describes the exact chemical composition of the fragrance used on this coin. Now my question is if this comnes through the mail and it is detected by a drug sniffing dog. How do I get myself out of this mess. Think I'll pass on this coin rggoodie aka Richard "catch em doing something right"

I doubt it's a "real" coin, more like bullion with a picture on it -- the numismatic equal of philately's "sand dunes" and "wallpaper"...

My mailman should be here in an hour. He used to be an inspecter, so I'll ask him. Meanwhile, this may explain the grin on this Benin child. Very many Nigerian scams originate from this part of Africa. I think sales of this piece may keep the country "afloat".

Only 2500 coins, first in a series and a lot of publicity. I think this coin is collectible so I bought one.

Does anyone but me think that this "addition" to the world of coin collecting smells. How will they rate an MS65 coin if it has lost its smell. Personally I lost 90% of my ability to smell things years ago so I guess I couldn't grade or collect these things.

Vince.Drug dogs do not smell T.H.C. as it is a chemical compound that has no smell.Dogs hit on the scent of the actual finished product. If this coin does smell of the cannabis plant, they will surely smell it.
