I have had this for years and I have no clue what it is. It's a small sterling silver copy of a 1666 swedish daler banknote. Sorry the photos are terrible, but the last photo is what is imprinted on it. I can't figure out what it is exactly, I've never seen anything like it. Please help!

Well it's not a printing plate. If it was then whoa! Congrats!

Looking at the strike quality and the detail and sharpness of the lettering, it looks like it was struck in modern times. With the degree of tarnishing, I'd say it's about 40 or so years old (made in the 70s).

I figured it was modern, I just can't figure out exactly what it is or find anything like it. I wish it was a printing plate! ;)

Yeah I've never seen anything like this either. At first I thought it was a real riksdaler (some large denominations were actually bronze plates!) but you said it was silver and it had a banknote-like design on it.

Here's an example of a Swedish copper-plate money

However, you could *heh heh* make it into a printing plate. Just make a negative of it with plaster, ink it and voila! But... getting the plaster off of the daler in one piece could be a problem.

It's probably quite a bit smaller than a genuine daler note.

These notes were issued 1660-1664, so your ingot (or rather, the note it was copied from) is probably dated 1660. These were the first ever "banknotes" to be issued in Europe. If I had to guess, I would assume it's a commemorative ingot, perhaps for the 300th anniversary of their issue.

There's nothing stamped on the back or edges of the ingot to tell who/when it was made?

the only thing is on the top where it says 925 which is why I assume it's sterling
