Hello,

I don't know if this picture is the scan or the coin. Looking at the coin it does not have any of these "specs" does anyone know of any way to remove the "specs" I'm going to try compressed air on the coin and making sure the scanner glass is clean but beyond that I do not know.

Is-It-The-Coin-Or-The-Scan?

Is-It-The-Coin-Or-The-Scan?

Now, if you look at this other Sacagawea coin there are no "specs" I'm wondering if it was just a bad coin choice?

Is-It-The-Coin-Or-The-Scan?

Is-It-The-Coin-Or-The-Scan?

Any ideas? Does the one with the "specs" really look that bad?

Thanks,
Rich

It looks as though it is in the material or clad.Just remember that scans will pick up everything so it probably doesn't look that way in hand.

Halfwitty,

I looked at the coin with 10x magnification and it looks just fine.

I'll say it before and I'll say it many more times, "A coin does not look good magnified 100 times."

It has also been said that a scanner does not capture the true appearance of a coin. And that a camera can, with the right equipment and some work.

You never know what you are going to get when you use a scanner. If you want good pics you are going to have to switch over to a camera.

Whats more I have found that the gold coins such as Sacs and Pres dollars are difficult to photograph.
