johnny54321 Rest in Peace United States 4849 Posts	Posted 04/14/2010 10:49 pm I went to my local convenience store today to drop off some packages. I always ask the cashier if they have any half dollars to trade in for cash(they hate halves since they dont really fit the registers). One of the customers always makes purchases with a hoard of kennedys, so the store always seem to have a few. The clerk there had $8 worth of halves in which I promptly exchanged for $8 cash. Out of the 16 halves, I got 4 keepers. The rest will be returning to circulation. This is the first time I've gotten proofs from circulation. Report this Post to the Staff

I mentioned in another thread, I think this summer will see more people using coins previously hoarded for purchases as gas climbs towards $4 and people struggle to find work, etc. Report this Post to the Staff

It seems every couple of weeks they have between 15-20, and I almost always at least get 40% silver and occasionally a 1964, but never proofs until now. I've gotten over 20 40%ers and like 8 or 9 90%ers. thanks for moving this appropriately mods. Report this Post to the Staff
