Is anyone buying the new Lincoln cents. I have seen prices from four dollars a roll to fifty cents each. If more uncirculated coins are kept out of circulation, wont that make the circulated ones(in time) more valuable to collectors? I would like to see some, but I will wait untill the 2010 mint and proof sets come out and get a set of each.

I am not buying them. I feel the prices are too high for the number that possibly be minted this year.

I agree.Mintage will be large and overpriced. Mint is looking to recoup from the bullion shortage I believe.

Agreed. I've seen several in circulation here in Tampa over the past couple of weeks.

I think they are WAY overminted in cents this year, and underminted in Nicks/Dimes.

On the flip side of the coin though......()

If you choose to just wait and attain them from circulation (ie roll hunting or pocket change), then the chance that you'll get BU examples in great condition of "BOTH" mintages (P&D), are VERY SLIM !
Securing "both" mints through from the Two Roll Sets from "Uncle Sam", is the "only" way for some of us to get em' in BU.

From the wild, these Cents are deteriorating VERY quickly, and I just wouldn't bank on being able to secure both mints that way.
I don't disagree that there may be a very high mintage output of these, (and there also may NOT BE ! ).....but my reasoning is valid nonetheless, IMHO of course.

It depends on where you live.....you can usually score "one mint" from the wild....but by the time you find "the other mint" of a coin, they're usually pretty beat up and in horrid condition......not always, but I wouldn't "assume" that one could find em'.

I'm sure ebay would have some deals on "bank wrapped" rolls of these that would possibly be much cheaper than from the U.S. Mint....dunno.

By the way.....you do realize that the "Sets" you get from the U.S. Mint, ie, Uncirculated Satin Finish Mint Sets, Proof Sets (of course), etc., are "DIFFERENT" than the uncirculated "business strikes" that you get from "circulation". These biz. strikes from circulation do not have the "Satin Finish" that the Mint Sets do, and is a DIFFERENT COIN ALTOGETHER.
