I am still a newbie and haven't reached my 50 posts to post an actual want list. That is OK and I'm not trying to go around that rule. I respect that rule and this post is not a way to solicit anything except for some data.

I am a OFEC collector (20th century for right now) and have gotten pretty far along in my conquest. However, I am closing in on the point of where I cannot find much available on places like ebay, Heritage, bidStart, etc. I'm not even sure I can even afford to finish this quest but that aside, I'm wondering where other folks find material. There are a few shows in my area (the SF Bay Area) but they have been very limited with respect for the 'dark side' coins being available (except precious metals) and even then not from countries I'm looking for.

So my long and drawn out question is around where do some of you get those harder to find countries. Are there sites that might be of interest to me?

You'll note I did not name the countries I need. Again, I'm not looking to get around the rules. I'm simply interested in other online sources (no stores in my area either, that I'm aware of, even remotely interested in non-US precious metals). When I do reach my 50, I will certainly post a want list but until then...other places to buy?

I've heard good things about www.joelscoins.com but I haven't bought from him myself.

I've purchased from Joel's coins. Good place - decent prices, quick shipping, excellent selection. I can recommend him.

I'll second that, without hesitation.

yes, I've actually purchased from Joel in person at a show here in San Jose. He does have a lot of really nice stuff. Stuff I will probably will not be able to resist once I have gotten closer to my original goal.

This is probably a sickness :) but I look at his page daily. He has 'what's the latest additions' page which I look at daily. I've found a couple of other sites as well that were extremely helpful in closing the gap but I have exhausted them (to the extent that I can continue to resist all of the coins they have that I 'technically' don't need).

I have used Bob Reis for about three years for my collection of US minted "darkside" coins. Not the best quality, but pricing good, grading is excellent & problem free transactions. Try searching anything anywhere for his site.

Thank you for that. A very interesting character, and his domain name is to die for.

thank you once again for the additional sites. These folks indeed have a lot of material (and I have found others) but alas not one of them has anything that I need for my OFEC collection. Now, I could spend hours and many dollars adding to the countries that I already have but I must maintain my composure and resist.

Since we are naming sites, I have purchased from David Steinberg a number of times and his pricing is excellent. I added nearly 45 countries to my collection from his list of inventory.
