Germany used those denominations on the occupied Polish, Western Russia, etc. territories during WW1.

They're fairly easy to obtain in low grades, but high grade, problem-free coins may be harder to track down.

These coins are made of pure iron and rust easily, and the circumstances of their issue (by the occupying German army) and the subsequent revolutions in Russia mean that virtually nobody at the time was trying to obtain and preserve nice examples of them.

SVSLAV...that is one very nice coin. have you had it processed in some manner or did you obtain it in that condition? also let me thank all those who have given me answers to my question. the other illustrations (pic's) were interesting also. now that I know that they are out there, where is the best avenue to obtain them? My philosophy is that I will pay a reasonable price for any coin, but I hate getting skinned. thanks again dean

I wish I had one in that condition. I have a 1 kopeck coin looking very similar to the one of Bacchus' - I got it from a "bargain bowl" for a few cents. I was just too lazy to dig it out and found an image on the net.

You find them on ebay occasionally. I got mine for interests sake - they were not that expensive. Good luck with your hunt.

Check at ebay Germany. You will always find several of these coins, in the right category.
