i went recently and collected some Presidential dollars. I vacuum sealed them just to make sure they will not tarnish. but any ways I was thinking these have to be fairly popular to collect as well as the State Quarters. so my question is what should we collect now and preserve for the future I am guessing some of the less collected coins will have more value in the future .
a second thought I have often thought what if some one just went to the bank and specifically got a certain coin in rolls and spent them instead of using other tender that was there would be more out there getting tarnished and ruined . a evil thought perhaps but if enough people did it you'd have some rare coins

IMO I would say dollars (ikes)/halves,nickels,copper pennies and anything silver (proofs mostly as low mintages compared to pre 65 90%). I'm doing this as well and heres why I chosen them

ike dollars- you barely see them and will not be minted again + there just so darn cool

halves- most busness hate these as theres no place for them in the cash resister plus that the only ones made are in mint sets and barely any if none for circulation

nickels- soon the comp will get changed like what happened to the penny in 1982, so more junk will go into them to make the new coins worthless like paper money.

copper penies 1981 and before (took out 1982 because of 2 comps)for bullion and same reason as with the nickel plus who doesn't have pennies. gotta' collect' them' all'

Silver coinage (90%, 40% or 35%) These have the greatest potential in my opinion because not only due they have bullion value they also have a rarity value that a bar doesn't have.

What's your outlook on the upcoming Lincoln dollar? I dont really know much about it I am very new to collecting coins. I mostly collect comic books I love comics but they are very hard to keep in good shape for long periods of time. I'm trying to figure out how to vacuum them with bending the pages or warping. well that was off subject but any ways where can I go find the how many mints were made of a certain coin?

what about the old eagle quarters I dont think they where collected because of the over shadowing of the State Quarters..

b y the way is the Lincoln dollar being produced in large quantities ? are you able to purchase them threw rolls at the bank

In your first post, you mentioned that you collected some Presidential dollars. Well, the Lincoln dollar will be released this fall. It's part of the dollar coin president series.

For comics, get a mylar sleeve with a acid free backing board and they will do just fine.

i have a ton of those but I just want to try to go the extra mile to protect them. I thought he meant the silver Lincoln dollar. if you have comics cgc'ed they use a vacuum sleeve but it cost like +50 plus bucks depending on how many you grade

I like proofs due to the sheer fact that less are minted compared to circulated coins and I would rather buy a coin that is perfected instead of paying way over melt for an AU/ms circulated type coin

I could not agree more, especially with that last part.

Just curious. Does the plastic that you vacum sealed them in have a high PVC content. That will ruin the coins.
