From a few Canadian bank 1 cent rolls yesterday (nearly all of which contained older copper), I pulled only my second 1985 pointed 5. The cool thing is there's lustre remaining and definitely upgrades my one-and-only other find of this variety.

Anyone else have any luck finding these? They seem REALLY tough to get.

Also, from looking carefully at mine, I can safely conclude there's no way the pointed 5 is from a die chip -- it's a totally different numeral 5.

I've never found one--but I've only been looking for five months, and I see a lot more U.S. change than Canadian.

hi, bibd, It's funny you posted this, because I was roll searching on Tues. and found my second pointed 5 1985 cent, and there was lustre remaining on this one too.

Congrats on your find.I have found roll searching two or three so far, and I do keep an eye out for them. I also look for the 1965 large beads pointed 5, found a few of those and then the 1983 near beads and I found a few of those.

AndrewC: I feel your pain -- it must be like me trying to find WAMs from Canadian cent rolls. I did find a 1982S Proof Lincoln in a Canadian roll once. How strange is that for someone to spend a proof cent?

SHAFTA9a: That's crazy -- some parallel universe thing is going on here. Just don't stub your toe today, please! On a serious note, what are you planning to do with your first one? I'll probably see if I can get a few bucks for mine.

John1: Nice work on the 1965. I have never found a pointed 5 with large beads -- only small beads. (Had to buy my type 4.) For 1983, it took me a while to find "nice" examples of each.

Hi,bibd.. What am I going to do with mine?... I'll probably keep it.

Also, on the 1965s I've kept every '65 I've come across, one of these days, I'll look at them, to see how many lrg. beads, pointed 5s I can find.
