I know that the type II gold set is like the holy grail of type sets but out of curiosity, could someone please tell me what coins fall under this set? It's like 30 coins or something. Thanks
Rest in Peace

It really depends on your definition of a gold type set since nothing is set in stone. It could be representative of anywhere from the 10 gold coins in the DANSCO 7070 to several dozen. I think the standard modern gold type set is made of 12 gold coins. This would include:
$1 gold type 1
$1 gold type 2
$1 gold type 3
$2.5 liberty
$2.5 indian
$3 indian
$5 liberty
$5 indian
$10 liberty
$10 indian
$20 liberty
$20 Saint
In this set, the $3 would be the key in AU+ grades.

I have expanded further to include the classic head gold, a classic commemorative gold and both "motto/no motto" types. This set would be a grand total of 20 pieces, and is the set I am working on now(I need 3 more to complete).

If you have the means, the ultimate gold type set would include each of the pre-1834 gold types, but now you are talking tens of thousands of dollars.

It really all depends on your goals.

If you want the truly ultimate type set I'd add the Stella ($4 gold piece) to the list. But if you don't have an extra $100,000 lying around you can always use the excuse "never released into circulation" to get out of buying that one!
