This coin belongs to a friend of mine and wondered what it actually is and also the FMV for such. I couldn't give him a definitive answer and hope some of the knowledgable members could chime in. The coin is free of marks, those showing are on the plastic encasement. Thanks. nlp

200th Anniversary of John MacIntosh. That's the BU version (there is also a proof version), sells for in or around 13-15 dollars. Retails in coin shops for 25.00 BU Mintage 58,834 .

Thanks for the info. It does say BU on the side of the box. Looks just like a proof though. nlp

The proof version is an UHC edition... can't mistake one for the other.

You have a nice coin that is worth the silver value at least and I think this coin works out to around 3/4 of an ounce of silver. So your value is, as Ugly said, currently about 13.00.

They are very attractive, I don't like a lot of the proofs but I like the apple a lot. Nice pic thanks.

I like this coin a lot in proof or BU. If anyone has an extra McIntosh or two to sell, let me know.

I've got all the commerative silver dollars, however this particular one I have it in BU.
I must say the proof version is much more pleasing to look at.
I always wondered why for a number of years during that period the mint skimped out on their packaging and never used the clam shell cases, but the cheap plastic cases we see above.
It also amazes me that the BU always has a smaller mintage but never ever seems to demand a premium over the proof version. I know, I know, pricing is based on demand and nothing else..but still.
