Saw this darkly toned one on Teletrade... had to have her! ANACS small white holder, graded VF-30. O-115. Middle photo tilted slightly to show some of the gold highlights and dark steely blue toning.

That is what a Bustie should like, TDColl.

Are you familiar with axial lighting for coin photography?
Rest in Peace

Thanks for the comments, my friends! Joey, I like your CBH too. The shape of the number "2" in the date fascinates me on these coins, looks like it was designed by Tim Burton, if he did logotypes!
As to axial lighting: I am just starting to do that, actually assembled a crude setup last week but obviously haven't put it to use yet-- any suggestions as to the best light source?

It's known as a patina or crust. Not exactly toning. Gorgeous Bust Half, TDColl!

Very nice crusty original look with tons of eye appeal.

thanks for the comments, folks. I think the last shots got the color a little better, but these dark ones really need to be seen in hand so you can tilt them around under the light. I just bought a short date run of these on Heritage- 1833-36, all VF, and try as Imight I can't capture the iridescence of the 1836, even with axial lighting. Some things just have to be experienced in person, I guess.

It appears to me that your 1824 is an overdate (1824 over 1). (Overton 101 variety)

Anyone else agree?

I don't believe it is Moe.The space between the 2 and 4 seems to be too wide but I may be wrong.I'm not an expert on these babies.

If you mean TD's coin no it is not the 4/1, the 2 and 4 are way too far apart.
