People have abandoned their safety deposit boxes, the state puts the treasures up for auction. I wonder if there will be any good deals..... http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=treterm...y&csid=Ctrel

The Mass Treas always has good deals. Basically completed my pre-60s pound notes collection from just one auction.

Thanks Wontoo! As a resident of Massachusetts I checked out the link & ended up on the abandoned property page & typed in my last name (its pretty unique). Up comes my brothers name with an old address for $100+, we filed a claim. I'll let you know how it turns out.

They have those in Illinois about once a year. First they publish a multi page listing in the newpapers for abandonded boxes. Then they have a sale at the State building in the downtown area of Chicago. Those are actually auctions and almost all items are sold for double what they are worth. These auctions also contain seized merchandise from criminals that are not tracable to the real owners or so they say.
