Here's three more. I am just going through my set year by year. Are there any particular dates that stand a better chance of being a recognizable VAM?

1884

ok on your 1880-O will you put it under the miscrscope right there at the base of where the neck meets the chin, if that isn't a scratch then its a clash (that is one major giveaway for clashes on Morgans) and once you get that picture up we will have to examine the reverse and obverse parts closely to see what other parts are clashed

The two that stands out in my mind that has the MOST VAM's are 1878-P (which has well over 150) and 1921 (which has about as many). But every date has VAM's every last one of them and every mint mark has them as well. Another thing, just because I dont see anything doesn't mean nothing is there, there are 253 pages of just morgan VAM's in the book and probably 300 more VAM's that arent in the book on the update list

That's just great, I knew that I was opening a can of worms when I asked if I had any VAMS!! Now I have to get a VAM book of my own!! [:p]I was thinking last night that I may have some VAMs that wouldn't be able to be attributed by my dark pictures. Now I won't be able to sleep at night until I scrutinize every last one of them suckers!! Thanks alot Bryan!!!! Seriously, I do appreciate it, nothing like a new path to wander. I'll get closer pics of the 1880-O and see what you see. (If it turns out to be a VAM, we'll have to keep it a secret. I just bought it off of Crystalk64 unattributed.-----I wonder if he's eavesdroppin'?.....[:0])

here is a picture showing the marks I am refering to, if you can zero in right here we should be able to tell if its clashing or just a scratch

aight I like looking through 1878's I can spot one of them easier than the O/S you had. you know if you have any 1921's you will pull SuperDave and MorganMan and MorganFred out of the woodwork

That's an excellent deal, if it's the Fourth Edition. Be aware, though - the book only covers up to 1992; every VAM discovery since (three thousand plus) is archived elsewhere.
