I know I said I'm gone from here, and I am after I have my say. First of all, maybe to most of you I didn't handle Johnny's winning of the auction well. You're all entitled to your opinon, but for me I think I handled it the best I could. Johnny's someone on here that I've never liked. If someone else had won it, I'd have been the first to congratulate them. But I can't help it, I just don't like him and I've never been one to hide my feelings. I know you all view him as somone with a lot of knowledge, and no doubt he knows a lot but I know a lot too. I've been doing this for over 10 years, and I felt like you all were slighting my knowledge in the thread. I may have been a sore loser, but that doesn't mean I'm not a good and knowledgeable collector. I may have let my personal feelings cloud my last posts, but if you look over all of the other posts I've made on this board, I've shown my knowledge and willingly shared it with many members of this community. I just wanted to defend my knowledge and write a decent coin community epitaph. I think I was a good member of this community at one time, but I'm no longer. There's more people that I don't get along with on this board than those that I do now. With this I say goodbye, and wish those that I've enjoyed conversing with well and good luck with your collections.

It's odd to me that you feel this way, as I don't recall ever talking to you on or offline; or even addressing any of your posts until you commented this weekend on my quarter. Oh well, sorry you think that way. take care.

As I said in another post; people ascribe far too much personality and emotion to what they read in cyberspace, particularly about those theyve never even met.
To avoid a conundrum, I wont say there are some people I like and then, in the next breath, say there is no one I dont like -- because I dont know any of you and have never met you to like or dislike you.
There are people on this forum I enjoy reading and engaging. I can win a wooden nickel or thirty betting there are some people who dont care for me and my opinions. Heck, I suspect there are some who might even resent me.
At some point, inordinate emotional investment in cyberspace or one's reaction to it means it's probably time to kill the computer -- or at least take a break and hug a tree or ummmmmmm........go to the forest....the answer is at the well.
I hope you take a break and breath and return when you're ready.

I also don't see anywhere where a member "slighted" your knowlege in that thread... I gave you credit since you've already cherried two which is phenomonal, you've probably knew about these characteristics before I ever owned an SLQ.

I have to be honest I didn't see you comment in the other thread until now. I think if you are angry that you lost an auction on ebay to a fellow member then the other member thought it was worth more than you did, no matter how much knowledge you claim to have. If you have the knowledge you claim you should have bid what you "knew" the lot was worth instead of trying to make a rip. Any time you try to make a rip you always have a chance of someone out bidding you, no matter if its cars or coins. You have to know you are not the only ebay member with the knowledge to know what you are looking at and when you bid small you have to know there is a chance someone else will bid large because they are willing to pay more for the coin. Johnny knew the coin was a 1500.00 coin when he saw it, I am guessing you did to, but yet you bid 400.00 and Johnny bid half of what it was really worth meaning he wanted it more than you did. I do not think Johnny would act this way if he had gotten outbid by someone that thought it was worth the gamble to pay 2/3 of its value just to find out even if it were you that did so. I think you are very childish and to be honest if this is how you act in real life I bet your blood pressure is pretty bad and you are shortening you life getting angry over small things like getting out bid on an auction item. If I got upset every time I have gotten out bid I would be in the looney bin now even though I always try to bid fair market value and if I get out bid in my opinion the winner paid to much

But I can't help it, I just don't like him and I've never been one to hide my feelings. That is absurd! To say you do not like someone because you were willing to pay $300 less than they were in a ebay auction is ridiculous and downright childish He won fair and square, get over yourself. I have never met Johnny or any other member of this forum but I have chatted with him in the past, and from what I can tell he is a stand-up guy who knows a thing or two about coins (which is obvious considering the thread in question). Apparently he knows how to tell a dateless 1916 from a 1917 just like you. If you can't get over getting out bid on an auction a month ago maybe you should pad your computer with bubble wrap so your feelings don't get hurt.

I agree with Cownas. Johnny is a great and knowledgeable guy, too bad if you're jealous of his coin knowledge. No one ever mentioned anything about you being a "not knowledgeable and smart" collector, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Coins are just "things"... they aren't worth giving yourself an ulcer over. Good luck to you, Terror.
Johnny, your responses to this thread and the other one have been very gracious! You've shown a lot of class!

I speculate that there is more going on in his life than just a lost auction. If this is the case, I sincerely hope he can work it out.

every time a member leaves CCF, its like losing a family member for me. no matter if they are grumpy, sad or REALLY mad, I miss them. I REALY hope you can stay, can you just try and leave for maybe 2 days and than comeback and see if you are okay? try not to interact with johnny's posts for a little bit, and cool down, and forgive him, and possibly apologize.
Thanks, Adam

I'm pretty sure JimR was not referencing you Adam E. And I agree with you. I think we on this Forum can all get along with a bit of humility and a sense of shared purpose. We're here to help each other.

Quote: Johnny's someone on here that I've never liked. Although everyone here is entitled to their own opinions, if you feel that deeply about it, to the point of publicly saying you don't like another member here, then maybe this isn't the forum for you. If you look at the top left corner of the page, you will see that "CCF" stands for Coin Community FAMILY. And since being a member here for close to 4 years, I can definitely say that this forum has a close family "feeling". I am just not feeling that with you with your post. I wish you the best of luck in the future. And maybe one day you can find a forum which you can call home.
