Just two more quarters and I have the set. This is so darn frustrating because they are ones that I have seen and set aside saying that I already had them. Puerto Rico and Northern Marianas Island are the last two. Anyone know how rare they are?

NMI might be rough from circulation now that everyone thinks they are low mintage. But Puerto Rico should be hard.. I got my P and D from circulation this year, and I live in Washington state.

Yes, the Maraiana Qtr. (both Mints) are low mintages. The "P" mint is the lowest minted Qtr. in 50 years. •2009-P Northern Mariana Islands Quarter: 35,200,000 •2009-D Northern Mariana Islands Quarter: 37,600,000
All of the Territories are actually lower than normal......if you go through the threads, all of these "numbers" are discussed, compared, and listed there.
Are you doing a "P" and "D" mint album ? .......or just "one" mint ? Do you have them all (except these two) in BU condition ?

Personally I don't think NMI is really that low. But you gotta love the hype that gets created from the fact that is lowest in 50 years... Makes everyone think hoarding them will pay off. Which it might. Can't ever know.

Other than this fact being noticed on CCF by a few good folks.....I've not really seen any "hype" about them at all in the "outside world". I mean, yeah it's "mentioned" in Coin World and plenty of respected informative magazines....but I wouldn't really say I've seen all that much "hype" about them. And considering just how many Billions and hundreds of millions of Quarters they NORMALLY mint.....it IS a "low mintage" by todays standards ! .... A "valuable" or even a "future valuable" low mintage is another story entirely. High grade examples may certainly never see more than a dollar and a half or so.....but who knows right ? ....and "that's" the fun right there....in the "potential" or " possibilities" of the future, NOT the here and now value and the fact that we just " don't" know ! .....Nobody does. But musings, ponderings, in depth back and forth discussions about "future" possibilities of this and other Territorial Quarters potential values 50 years from now, best ways to go about collecting them, etc. etc. etc. This is all "part of the fun" of CCF right ? ......

Give it time, I am sure the "home shopping" shills will be hyping this up for the Holiday season!

I'm not collecting any particular mint, just looking for an example of each type. My wife stopped by the bank today and got them to keep an eye out for them. Its just so frustrating considering I have held both of these coins at one time through the canteen at my work and passed them on because I had assumed I already had them in my collection.
What a kick in the teeth, eh?

Canadiansailor, I'm am also at the end of the state series with maybe six coins left to go, I collect both D & P mint marks. I went to a coin show recently with the intentions of finishing up the set and got side tracked working on my Jefferson nickle proof coins. I also collect the State Quarters silver proofs as well, I'm about sixteen away from calling it done with that set. Bad news with the silver proofs I have all the 1999 proofs left to get, which are the costly ones! I read some were that it is better to acquire the pricey ones first so as to get them at the lowest price possible. Well hang in there those few coins you need will show up in your change eventually. Good Luck, Rastatodd

I hate that. Go to a show or a ship with the intention of finishing a set and you get side tracked by something shiney!

Staying "FOCUSED" on one particular coin series is VERY difficult for me too ! I swear that I must be working on 11 different Sets simultaneously ! Right now it's the Kennedys.......with an "eye out" for Silver Proof State Quarters too.....I need several more years of those to be complete on that Set. And of course, I have A LOOOOONNNNNG WAY TO GO on the Kennedys ! ... I just keep grabbing Proof and Silver Proof Sets when and where I can....and just keep plugging away filling holes ! This gives me "the goodies" in other denominations for albums too.....so it "is" fun !

I think the best thing about going to the coin shop is the "10 for a dollar" box. I have found some very interesting coins in there. I got my first French, German, and Italian coins out of those bins. All the while the owner was telling me I wouldn't find anything worthwile in there. Guess he was wrong, it was worth while to me!!

He was only telling you that you wouldn't find anything good in there because he wants to sell you higher priced coins.

No kidding. You should have seen him. Didn't ask for a price range, just brought out the 20 and 30 dollar coins. When I said I wasn't interested he started work on the lower priced ones until eventually he just said that I should find what I wanted and have a nice day. I definatly won't be back to his shop. Made me fell like I was wasting his time.
