I went to my US bank today (live in a border town)where I have been getting rolls of coin for a few years now and asked what type of rolled coin I would get and the teller told me it would be the same if I bought 6 or a box, both wrapped in paper.
So how do you get the ones in a box that come in the plastic wrappers?

I bank at US bank as well. The plastic rolled coins come from Brinks. Buy a box of $25.00 and see what you get. Happy hunting! Sincerely, John Leckrone

I ask for a box and it is the same as single rolls all in paper.
How do you get a box from Brinks?

Depends on what carrier service your bank uses. Brinks and a few others use plastic. Others use paper. I really don't think any one service will yield more or less than any other.

A big bank like USB is probably contracted with their armored car guys and/or gals, that's why they never charged you a "special order" fee for your boxes, i.e., they get all they want, that's what it says in their agreement. Your trouble is, they're contracted with somebody other than Brinks, that's all. If you really must have those Brinks shrink-wrapped rolls, I'll tell you an easy way you can get that. Just go to some other banks in your area, level with them that you're a coin-collector, and ask them if you could see one of their rolls, or, alternatively, which armored car carrier they use. The reason you want to level with them as such is so they don't erroneously suspect you're John Dillinger when you inquire about their armored car carrier. If you see they use Brinks, just open a free checking account, there, and start ordering your shrink-wrapped boxes.

I have yet to find a bank that actually uses Brink's rolls around here. Everyone uses paper.

My bank has never used Brinks. But I "do" know of a bank that uses Brinks, but I'm not a member. I just go there sometimes for Cents......can't get other denominations usually since I don't belong there. I thought of opening up an account there, though, so I could take advantage of trying Brinks rolls.

i know that wells fargo has shrink wrapped, b.c where I work gets them there..
i called wells and asked about their checking. it is not free. you have to have a 100 or 500 min open or balance, I forget. and if there is not activity, for 30 days? they close it. and they said there was a monthly surcharge or something? any one confirm this?
if it was free to open, and no monthly charge...

I prefer paper wrapped over plastic. I find better stuff in the paper wrapped rolls. I do know that a Chemical Bank near me has Brink rolls, I don't know if CB's are local or national. John1
