Thanks! =================================================================== I was hoping you might be able to help me out with a few coin questions/valuations. I'm a music/book seller and know nothing about coins, but recently inherited a bunch of them from my mom who passed away recently. I didn't even know she had coins! Two "Spanish Millage" coins from 1741: 1741 Spanish Millage #1: 21 grams, 37mm 1741 Spanish Millage #2: 23 grams, 37mm Two "Continental Curency" coins from 1776: 1776 Cont Currency #1: 18 grams, 38 mm diameter 1776 Cont Currency #2: 21grams, 38 mm in diameter. Here's some pics: I've also got another with the date of 1837 with a bunch of strange writing that I can't make heads or tails of: I REALLY, TRULY appreciate any help or advice you can give me! Not too sure about the Mexican / Spanish reals - I'll let someone else answer it. Sap Moderator Australia 16830 Posts	Posted 07/03/2006 8:59 pm The "British one" is a medal for Queen Victoria's 60th year of reign (Latin: anno regni sexagesimum), 1897. The date is in Roman numerals is at the base of the "old head"; the date "1837" at the base of the "young head" was when she became Queen. It probably is British, but it could have been made anywhere in the Empire. I've never seen the design before, so it's not Australian. It might be Canadian? There were celebrations for the 60th year of reign, and this piece would be part of that celebration. The legend around the old head is not the regular text, but makes reference to Victoria year of reign 60... best wishes.. or similar thought (My little latin knowledge breaks down by then) Report this Post to the Staff
