I have read recomendations to store silver coin albums in ziplock plastic bags with silica dessicant.

I have begun to do so but I started wondering about the softeners used in the ziplocks? Does anyone know for sure that ziplock bags are inert?

Just wondering.....

You do not have to use any humidity silica dissicants in a Zip Lock plastic bag. In most instances the gallon size just has enough room for the Album and if you push out as much air as possible, that should be good enough. I've been doing that for many, many years now and no problems.
As to anything in the plastic that could effect the coins, do as I did and contact the manufacturer. Actually for almost anything that you are concerned about I suggest contacting the manufacturers of those items rather than hopefully getting information miscelleously.
If your using Zip Lock Plastic Bags just read the box for the information as to S.C.Johnson & Son, Inc. in Racine, Wisconsin, 53403-2230. Then look up their toll free number. Call them and ask. I did. There is nothing in the plastic that is or could be dangerous to you, your food, you coins or anything else you put in them.
If you do, have some fun and do as I do. I always state that this call may be monitored and/or recorded for safety purposes. That is to get even for them doing that to me all the time.
