I have a 2008 clad proof set that I would like to sell. I only collect the silver proof sets so this has no interest to me and I could certainly use the money. I would like to sell it to one of my CCF brethren but have no idea what to price it at. Numismedia lists the FMV at $101, the prices on ebay are all over the board. I know this is supposed to be the key to the clad series. Can anyone give me an idea on what these are going for?
Rest in Peace

Well seeing that I purchased a 2008 Silver Proof Set here at CCF for $52.00 shipped...I would say that $101.00 for the clad would be high.

May Coinage Magazine lists a 2008 clad at $98. The silver is listed at $72. Interesting the clad is so much higher.

Interesting......well......the clad has 28 pieces and the Proof has 14 pieces right ? Plus it's the last of the State Quarters, the last year of the Lincoln Memorials, and I think it's also the last year of the NIFC Sacagawea.
So there are three different issues that are either ending or a re-designing in this 2008 Set.

But I'm interested as well, to see the reasons why one is unusually higher than the other.

Oh.......JEEEEEEZ ! ... .......I was thinking the Uncirculated P&D Set with the "28 coins"......I'm feeling very "special needs" today.....

I'm just gonna go stand in the corner for a little bit ......

So, the issue "is" just simply a "Proof" Set over a "Silver Proof" Set......hmmmmmm.....weird !
WHY IS THIS ? ....... I await the explanations from those who are fully well rested and don't have really bad Mondays !! .....
...... ...... .....

The site I order from has them listed for $90.00

http://app.vendio.com/storefront?vi...ode=1&pnum=6

And the silver proof set for $65.00, and the mint set for $57.00

2008 are some of the highest prices sets.

I keep thinking .. I bought the proof and mint set for my grandson.
And the silver proof set for myself. Do you think it would be wrong to take them back .... just kidding. I started buying for him in 2007, but holding on to the sets until he is older.

Though it matters not....I thought it worth mentioning that the 2011 RedBook shows that 2008 Proof Set for $90.00.....and it shows the 2008 Silver Proof Set for $60.00

I've actually run into a similar deal then with the 1995 Silver Proof Set.....they're wanting like $70.00 for this one versus $20.00 or so for the other years around there. The only reason I can see is that it's a low mintage Set. The Proof Set for '95 is fine though....nothing crazy there. So, it's not "similar" like that...but in the "low mintage price" sense. Needless to say, as I've been buying Proof and Silver Proof Sets to crack for albums....I've stayed away from this one for now, in hopes of finding "a deal" on it somewhere.

Regardless, I'm glad I have multiples of the 2008 Sets (Uncirc's., Proofs, and Silver Proofs)

JUST CURIOUS....ARE "SINGLE" COINS PULLED FROM THOSE 2008 SETS TRENDING HIGH AS WELL TOO ? ....OR IS IT JUST THE SET ?

The 2008 Clad Proof Set was an 'early sellout'. It sold out before the
end of calendar 2008, versus the 2008 Silver Proof Set remaining
available until the 2009 Silver Proof Set was released. This is why
the 2008 Clad Set has continued to be higher in the Greysheet than the
Silver version.

The 'last LMC' and 'last original reverse design (NIFC) Sacagawea'
were of course the same coins in both Sets, and it was cheaper to buy
them in the Clad Proof Set at Mint issue price (until it sold out).
