I finally have one penny from each year up to 2008! Thanks to a buddy and a nasty Divorce (hes paying off his soon-to-be-ex-wife in rolled change) I have just under $1500.00 in rolled change to look through over the next week. May seem like a lot but I am only looking for certain years and they are all Wheaties. Let me tell you that can cut down on ALOT of time! By the way, out of curosity I weighed it all and I have 88.6 lbs of coins to search. Edited by Canadiansailor 05/10/2010 06:01 am

I would also pull out any high quality full red memorials while you are going through them. Easy to spot and they have some value to them.
Have fun!

I have been looking for the Red cents but so far nothing worth replacing anything in my collection with. As for the quarters, I just finished the hand rolled ones and found a Norther Marianas Islands one, which means when I get the Puerto Rico quarter I have a full set of the States and Territories set.

Wow, paying with Pennies that is nasty. On the other side, I would love to have your problem.
Check my new post.

$1500.00 in pennies is closer to 1000lbs, not 86.

1025.15 pounds to be almost exact.. hee hee
but thats assuming that all rolls are pennies. OP said $1500 in rolled change, not rolled pennies.. must be some other denominations in there..

On a side note, If I were the guy getting divorced I would be careful in paying the ex with rolled change.. might be seen by the court as malicious behavior.. I remember reading on here about a year ago about a dude who tried to pay a traffic ticket with rolled pennies and the court refused his payment..

I heard of a similar story but I think the court decision was overturned as it is legal tender and as such must be accepted as payment but the government. I also read a story about someone who wrote his bank information from a cheque on toilet paper and that got accepted also. And it is 1500 in rolled Change with many wonderful denominations...I now have every nickel from 1970 on and some from the 40's 50's and 60's, but there are still more rolls to look through
