I recently aquired this coin, and a few others, and I was wondering if this coin is common at all? I've searched for it on the internet and could not find one that was gold plated. Does anyone have any info on this?

How difficult is it to make a conclusion that you can take ANY coins, including plastic coins and gold plate them?

I.e. it has already lost it's numismatic value and hence, well at least bullion value or so for your coin.

Yes, yes, but what is strange is that only the walking liberty lady on the front is gold.

There were companies that plated and colorized the designs of the older coinage. You'll find Winged Liberty dimes like that also. They also are colorizing and plating the State Quarters and silver eagles. Unfortunately, altering a coin in this way reduces the value.
