Well I went through a box and was sorely dissappointed. I think I found four or five wheats, two from the forties and two or three from the fifties, so it was kinda a bust on the older finds. But what I did find was a decent amount of higher-grade newer-models. Got a really nice 64D, a few nice seventies and eighties, a number of nice ninties, and of course a good amount of two-thousands. Which leads me here, and I have a couple of questions:
I plan on keeping the best-of-the-best of all of them, but what should I do with the rest? Toss em back in the mix and try and help someone else out?
On many of the newer ones I have found a good, clean shine on them, and some even have almost no contact marks. But what I have noticed on a lot of them are spots. They look like water spots, but do not come off with a gentle rub(I know, I know) or even a soap and water rinse. Being that these are still fairly new, do I try to do anything with them, or just keep the best I can and throw the rest back, or what?

I got skunked on my last box, too. I found 2 beat up wheats, only about a dozen coppers. The rest were '83 and up.
I'd keep the nicer ones, and toss the ones with the spots back. There are billions of these coins and you will find yourself dipping into your pocket to replenish the cost of rounding out a box. I found I started getting really picky about about the ones I keep, and I'm still swimming in them. Of course, I'm talking about 2000+. I'm still keeping nicer '80's and '90's.
Don't forget to check for all the doubled dies, varieties, and errors though!

I reply to this topic, but I guess it contained a request to exchange. It was rejected. I guest, I am not qualified yet. See my reply on your other topic. Let me know what you think.

i haven't searched boxes yet but usually only get about 10 bucks worth at the bank and 10 bucks of nickels I usually find at least 3 wheat pennies so I don't really know if I should waste my time getting a box I guess its never a bad thing to try but wrapped rolls from other people usually pay out for me I think a new thing I am going to start asking for when I get my coins is if anyone has brought anything in today or within the past few days and grab whatever that is people wrap up some good stuff

I was mumbling and grumbling about 3/4 of the way through the box about not finding any wheats and stumbled on to that guy. He was so ugly I didn't have the heart to toss him back into the recycle bin for someone else to find. I may have saved one of you . I noticed coop isn't jumping up and adding him to his library! Good idea, jbuck. Maybe we will have an ugly coin contest.

Well I packed em all back up ready to go back to the CU. I really hated to throw some of these back. I had some real shiners. Is there anyway of cleaning cents without turning them worthless? Some of these I put back would have graded very high if it weren't for the spots on em.
