What do I have here? It's on the reverse of a 1892 Barber half. Appears to have been ground down and then engraved.

Intriging, at least. I'm nearly hypnotized by it. I can't see all the lettering. Zodiac sounds plausible, but I think there's more to it.

Too few symbols for zodiac. The whole third is missing.

Yes, this is an engraved piece. It's likely the pocket piece of someone who belonged to some fraternal order or secret society. You might try Googling some of the words to arrive at a translation. It's sad to think that the reverse may have one had an O or an S mintmark ... maybe even a micro-O !!
