Come now wd1040 how can you expect world renowned scientists/physicists to waste their time on such trivialities? Now if rggoodie were to send me the coin in question I could investigate by using my multi-dimensional time-travelling machine to solve the problem...er well I could if the battery wasn't flat and the spare part arrives from Walmart!

"The Coin Vault" has been offering these for a while actually. They even have a few graded by NGC. They informed me just the other night on TV that these coins are actually valued at 400% over face value. Plus, they will no longer be minted, so if you don't buy them soon, every other collector but you will have a pristine example. If I understood what they were saying, the date range on these was between Sep 3rd 1832 and Aug 14th 1997. Exact mintage numbers aren't available because when intitial counting was done, some of the coins were counted with the reverse up, and some with the obverse up. The Coin Vault has managed to buy every one that was obverse up, and they sent them in to be graded for this one time offering. I'm on the fence if I want to purchase. It would be nice to have a MS72&1/3 DCAM coin with a star though......

Quote: the Large Hadron Collider can bring the coin back to its original state... We could then send it to the Gamma Quadrant where all their money is reversed. (Or is that the Bizarro World?) Quote: I'm going to bed.

The coin is obviously from a parallel universe! Whether it is from the Star Trek Mirror Universe, the parallel world from Fringe, or the sideways reality from Lost cannot be determined until we get pictures!

I understand that they are thinking about coining (pardon the pun)the term "Donkey" for this mint error. Jim

I know a guy who has a 1949-S Lincoln Cent that he may be interested in trading. Not only is it back to front but the reverse is larger than the obverse. He believes it to be a one of a kind. The real crazy thing is, the reverse is lighter than the obverse even though it's larger.Huh.

Halfwitty, I know for a fact that these 1949-S cents were produced (the whole mintage) and put into circulation by a superior alien intelligence. In a bid to ascertain the intelligence of life on earth by monitoring how many humans would spot the difference.
The result, I think you'll admit, was a resounding failure. That is why they have failed to make contact with us and that the vast majority of coin collectors are of limited intelligence. You and your friend are obvious exceptions. I myself failed the test but I was made aware of it by the forest spirit that resides under a banana plant in my garden. Although he told me in the strictest confidence I think it's time the truth was revealed.
