I just purchased a coin where the reverse is on the obverse and the obverse is on the reverse!

Any value other than face value to this coin?

Do you mean it was packaged wrong? Like it's that way in a card holder?

We are going to need to see pictures to prove it's authenticity. Be sure to take pictures of both sides in the proper order

The coin is obviously a foreign coin minted south of the equator, the problem is that it will only appear wrong on the north side of the equator, so its obviously not a die error and has no added value.

So Metalman, coins on the equator should only be viewed edgewise?
Rest in Peace

Taken in front of a mirror please!

And if that indeed is the case, I guess it would have reverse value!

The equator is an imaginary line that can be divided to infinitity without ever determining its absolute thickness.so depending on which side of that line you stand the coin will either be right or wrong depending on which hemisphere it was minted in.

Sorry I should have been more precise with my answer to RG's question.;-))

Post pictures with an identifying mark (white strip) on obverse, then take one of the reverse. Merge the two pictures together then post so we can see it, with some quality.

There's a definite increase in value, the simple excitement and merriment this announcement has stirred has already pushed this coin into the ultra rare collectibles market. (along with several other recent ebay finds including but not limited to the recent discovery of Al Gore's visage on ancient Greek coins)

Were others of this type found it might case an excess of exuberance here on the forum among collectors such that sour faces would be all but a thing of the past.

Hmmmm...I agree with Metalman's analysis. Maybe the Coriolis effect may be at least partly to blame? See here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_effect

If the coin was minted in the Southern Hemisphere, it would rotate the opposite direction when entering the coining chamber than if it had been minted in the Northern Hemisphere. As a result, the obverse ends up on the reverse and the reverse would be on the obverse...

hmmm... I wonder if the Large Hadron Collider can bring the coin back to its original state...
