Don't know if you are allowed to make remarks about coins on ebay for sale but I would like someone to give an opinion on whether this coin has been cleaned, polished, etc. or does it look right before I bid on it. This is one I really need.
Need to find out how to post a url. It goes off sometime tomorrow.

Thanks in advance

Graded by CSI (who?)?

It is most certainly not an MS-66 coin and I would recommend a pass on this one.

I think it's pretty clearly not an MS66. There are a lot of marks in fields and across devices on both sides. They don't seem to be all going in the same direction as I tend to see with wiped coins. But there are an awful lot of marks.

This one looks better to my eye but to each their own.

Do not bid. Most likely in the low MS range and possibly cleaned.
Rest in Peace

ebay auctions that L@@K like they came from a carnival are usually bad news and this one is no exception.

Likely a polished, cleaned or whizzed piece and possibly not genuine.

Must've been CSI Chicago - lots of crooks come from Chicago. I'd stay away........far away.

with all the above.

I claim zero expertise with the Morgan series ..... but when I see an expensive coin in a bottom-drawer holder with flashy E-Pray selling techniques I run away.

Geepers .... the back of the holder has the following statement ... I'm not making this up ... "Graded to Certified Silver Investment Standards".

In other words ..... worth melt value which is now $19/0z.

My advise ..... stay away from this one and save your money for a real coin!!

I agree.Look for one which was graded by a real TPG if you are spending more than 100 bucks on any coin IMO.

That isn't necessary if you know what you're doing and know your series. There are those who spend thousands on raw coins because they have enough knowledge and experience not to get burned. If you don't know much about coins then that isn't bad advice, although a person should know enough not to get burned if they're buying any coins.

If submitted to NGC, it would come back NCS as AU Details (Max), Improperly Cleaned. It does have luster left but NGC is REALLY tough on problem coins and may come back XF details cleaned. Even if it would be XF49 instead of AU50, they would still call it XF(40) Details.

But that velvet gift bag has got to make it at least a MS65.
If they need to "offer" anything as a gift to sweeten the deal, stay away because they are trying to distract you from the real problem at hand.

I've been laughing at this jerk's auctions for years. In that time, I don't believe he's ever offered a true Mint State, original surfaces coin. Remember, an MS66 1889-S is about a $4000 coin.

This one's about a $40 coin. If that.
