very nice Definitely worth every penny or dime you paid. I'd keep 'em all and not eat for a month!

Quote: I'd keep 'em all and not eat for a month! I just need to find a way to break the news to my wife.. $1,244 was my top bid, and I wasn't expecting to win with that, though I am extremely happy that I did. I could get away with not selling anything else, but I am pretty sure Aimee would disapprove, especially since I just spent $600+ on my draped bust large cent. I am more than willing to sacrifice in this case since I've been wanting a nice 16-d for years. I have the rest of the merc dime set too, so this will make my set complete. However, many of my early date mercs are in the AG3-G6, so I will need to do some upgrading along the way to compliment the 16d.

Well, since you have the 16D, it should be downhill from there.

I totally get the break it to the wife deal.
Hey - its Friday night, what better time for a surprise date night, nice dinner, little wine and somewhere in the middle of the conversation toss out a "Oh yeah, did I mention I picked up an AWESOME deal on a 1916-D Mercury? I got a steal, got it for spot price of Gold."

I had watched this auction and studied the coin for a while, but my decision to bid was a last minute decision and I really didn't think that I would win since I practically always have gotten outbid on these in the last few seconds.

Quote: Nice Hole Filler for your set. lol...yeah, I doubt I will be upgrading it for a loooong time. Now I have to turn the rest of my set into a "minimum grade of vg". This is one of those coins that is worth so much more than the rest of the set combined to the point that you build the whole set around it...I think even more so than the 1916 slq.
