I am looking for any information that anyone might have about this note. Why is it printed on other paper money? What is the story? Its rarity and value?
oh this is interesting! So the Lousiana part was actually printed on another banknote?
It seems possible that the $10 and $20 were specimens or proofs, printed as samples and not to be used. Normally, those notes would be one-sided. Also, the blue notes are not confederate notes, so I guess they would be stock from older wildcat notes.
Furthermore, I have read that in the confederate states, there were a lack of engravers, printers and even banknote paper. This was a probably a good way of recycling. Even though it was printed in 1862 (one year after the start of the war) they probably didn't have that many supplies either.
That's a neat website wd1040. The signatures on Napoleon's note are quite legible. It might be an interesting project to trace some history about those two gents. Maybe their pics could even be found?
