I thought this was a nice looking low grade coin. How would you grade it?

I would grade it at G-4. Absolute perfection for the grade imo, and should sell at a premium because of the quality surfaces! Great purchase!

Just for review:

Draped Bust Half Cent General Grading Standards

AG3 About Good - Clear enough to identify.

G4 Good - Bust outline clear, few details, date readable. Reverse lettering worn and incomplete.

VG8 Very Good - Some drapery shows. Date and legends complete.

F12 Fine - Shoulder drapery and hair over brow worn smooth.

VF20 Very Fine - Only slight wear in above areas. Slight wear on reverse.

EF40 Extremely Fine - Light wear on highest parts of head and wreath.

AU50 About Uncirculated - Wear slight on the hair above forehead.

This is perfect example of G-4. A great example with NO corrosion or pitting! Nice one!

I'd call it G-4+ because the reverse is considerably strong for the grade

Agree with it being an outstanding example of Good. The reverse and obverse altogether, push it to the uppermost limits of Good in my opinion...allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllmost into VG.

After all; it is an 1808

Absolutely a beautiful G-4 coin. I would pay VG money for it in a heartbeat.

I wonder if the tall 8 touching the bust adds any value?
