Here's a fun post for my first picture upload! There was nothing odd about that day a few weeks ago, I just happened to have a hand full of bills and decided to look through them before putting most away in my "cash stash" and found this gruesome looking thing. Looks like somebody gave it some "special" folds to chase away any "Bad Juju"!

The one right before it would have been better though. I figure I'll sit on it till I can't stand it anymore! Hope you find it interesting.

Steve, It is interesting that you found it in circulation. IF IF IF the original person had / got these bills in sequential order and did not hold this note back then they have no idea what they are doing.

My 2 cents - when you get a CU / un circulated notes in sequential order with fancy numbers you need to hold back the before and after note as they would have commanded a higher premium when sold. That's how I am going about it as that's how big collections are being sold off. Do your own DD.

I have been thinking about posting pics of "Ohhhhhh Soooooooo Close". May be we should start a topic like that.

Peace

Now that you mention it, it was in a stack of mixed denomination bills, about 30 singles and the balance a mix of 5's, 10's and 20's totalling.....$166!

But wait....there's more! Only three notes had anything going on, and here are the other two.

An almost radar:

And, get out the Holy Water....

If the date I received these had any 6's in it I'd REALLY think there was something REALLY strange going on! But no, April 3, 2010.

Nonetheless, it's a very strange coincidence. I do some theater with the local Dinner Theatre, and this was my portion of the tip money from our guests for our awesome performances during the course of a 6 weekend run of "The Odd Couple". I can't imagine this thing floating around out the for 6 years without anyone thinking "Hey, this is a freaky bill! I think I'll hold onto it."

I like consecutives, and hold onto them whenever I come across them. I've got several 3 note consecutives, and several 2 note, in various denominations. All CU, but none with anything special about the serials though.

In fact, I recently needed a 1934A $100 note for my album (I like series runs as well) and stumbled on two consecutive CU's in separate auctions from the seller and got them for $122.50 each. I got lucky on that one!

I'm sure there are lots of "Oh so close" notes people are hanging onto, just like this. I think it would make for an interesting topic!

That's interesting that you mention about your run in. About 3 weeks ago while I was searching fed straps ($1) I ran into a whole bunch oh so close notes and I took some out. I had never seen so many trinary's, binaries, 4 of the same leading # and near misses in one pile. Weird

FWIW - see if the admin will change the header on your message to Oh So Close. Just an idea.

Peace

That $20 had the "Burning Twin Towers" folds. There's a way to fold the $20 bill so it looks like it has the Twin towers on the back with smoke coming out of them.

9/11 RIP
Rest in Peace

I posted a picture of the burning twin tower fold a few months ago but it was pulled because of the controversy it might create.

Glad you guys find this thing interesting.

I don't strap hunt, or note hunt (in general), I just decided to look at them since I had a bunch in my hand. So it was kinda fun finding a quad and a sextuplet (get your mind out of the gutter!)- or a double triple! Just freaky that both were 6's, and the $20 Oh So Close to a radar/bookend.

Concerning the folds, yeah, I remember that going around a while back. What doesn't show well in the scan is there is another fold running bottom to top - left to right that makes an "X", along with the center horizontal and vertical folds. I don't remember that being part of the "Twin Towers" fold.

Thanks for playing, and enjoy your parting gifts!

Yep, I just refolded it on the fold lines and that's what it is, the "Twin Towers" fold.

This thing is really scarin' me now! That's probably wehy the other guy got rid of it!

I remember how weird it was that the twin towers fold was shown to me within days of the events......

I've seen 6 star notes in the past week in change. I went two months without one, then bam! - they're everywhere. Several trinaries too.

Neat Oh So Close notes ..... that could be a fun thread....
