Dark but surprisingly, no corrosion that I can see.
That's not a rim ding @ 3.

WOW! Incredible find vermont! Did you find this with a metal detector? There does appear to be a few tiny green spots, but it could just be the photography. It could be some light PVC spots, and may benefit from an acetone dip. I think I see some remaining luster around the devices, so I'd give it a solid XF-45. Way to go!

Excellent find must have been in a very dry enviornment, I don't see any corrosion. I'm going to say EF-40 only because the beads on the neck are not as sharp as they should be for EF-45. And the diamonds patterns are not complete.

You say you found that coin in the ground? It must have been one someone purchased, and it accidently, was dropped, without his noting it. It couldn't have been there very long. As it was said, the ground there muse be very dry. Was it in a "desert-like area"?
The coin looks to be from the slightly fuzzy view, at leadt a VFD45. The "mark" you refer to at K-3, is it a very small Cud?. It doesn't look like aclip, .and there is no indication of a clip on the rev/
Maybe a closeup of the OBV/REV , maybe?
Thanks for sharing,
Dick

No doubt about it EF40+, I can't believe you found that coin in the ground, was it in an air-tight case? lol

How did this beauty come from the ground?

I don't suppose the 3:00 rim action is a Cud since I don't see a corresponding weakness on the reverse.

Tell us more about the origin of this coin.

I personally did not find this but purchased it from a dealer who said he purchased it from a guy that did indeed find it with a metal detector. I figured $2 was a nice buy. Where?, I don't know but would have to agree it must have been a dry environment, possibly as Dick stated, a desert-like area.
Dick, that is not a Cud nor is it a clip @ K-3. Thanks for all the comments. I was between 40 and 45. I went with XF40 :)

That's certainly "Desert Patina", you see it with Roman/Greek/Byzantine ancients all the time, and they've been in the ground wayyy longer than that one had been.
