Recall the "Big One' announcement of March 26th? The new PCGS Secure Holder and the introduction of '+' grading whereby the top 30% (? not sure of that number) of coins in a given grade get an extra boost.

Anyways ..... I was wondering how many folks have earned a '+' grade on their PCGS coins for the required $60 re-grade fee .....

Soooo .... poking around in my favorite series .... US Classic Silver Commemorative ...... there are as of today a total of 36 PCGS '+' graded MS coins ....

The lowest graded '+' in this series are two at MS64+ ..... and there are a total of 6 MS68+ ..... those must be lovely coins indeed!

The PCGS price guide, while admittedly optimistic relative to the market, assigns a significant price boost for the '+' coins ..... it will be interesting to watch how the real market reacts to the concept.

I think it will be even harder to submit a coin graded MS65 in hopes of getting a MS66 because of the "Plus". I think this was a ploy by the company to save them from people who were constantly trying to boost the grade, in many cases adding several thousand dollars to the coin's value.

No it isn't since Secure Plus is an optional and more costly service. Normal grading and submissions are still in effect.
