Nice day picking through the bullion stack. I believe they are both VAM 6 in Fine or better condition. The 1880-O has the heavy thumb syndrome on obv. nlp

NLP,

The first is definitely an 1880-P VAM 6 "spikes". These get real pricey in UNC.

I have my doubts about the 1880-O being a VAM 6 "8/7". There should be a definite spike protruding from the top left of the second '8' (see circled area).

There is usually a faint check mark on that 8 also. Yours appears to be only a die chip. The 1880-O VAM 6 is very hard to find. The later die states (6A and 6C) are easier.

Still, not bad for a bullion stack finds.

Seated, you are absolutely correct. The 81-O is not a VAM6. I lightly brushed off the date and the "ear" is a small chip. There is a sizable chip between the two eights. Not sure which VAM but leaning toward VAM13, 56, or 71 but have not confirmed. nlp
