I haven't given up on trying to attribute this myself. I just need to know if this is doubling, Machine Doubling, or normal for a '21P? I'm looking at the bottom of the right leg, and the inside feathers above it. I'm having a hard time with this one. There's no scribblings, pitting, or extra berry.

Scooby, everything looks normal on this coin except for the ear. SuperDave should be able to help, he's much better on these 21s than me.

Quote: Coin Community appreciates your words so much, we repeated them for emphasis. This is pretty much normal hub stuff for 1921, Scooby - the inner ear doubling may be a hint but nothing more than one marker on the way to an attribution. That's the problem with VAMming - after the obvious is eliminated, it becomes tedious and arcane. I'm guessing you've already eliminated Wide Reeding, so now it's time to look for doubling thru date, stars and lettering.

MorgansRMine hollering from a mountaintop? SuperDave, I believe I have ruled out the infrequent reeding. I only have one other '21 to compare it to, so I compared them to other years instead. They appeared fairly consistent. I'm having a hard time with both of them. Maybe they're just run of the mill? I might need your help afterall. One of them (the one pictured) has a light die crack in front of her face running throught the 3 stars up through the E. The other has no identifiable markers that I can identify. Maybe they are both just unassigned and weren't worth listing? Where do I go next?

That'll work. Infrequent Reeding 1921's will have noticeably fewer reeds than just about any other Morgan. Quote: Where do I go next? Now you go to VAMworld and slog down the list, VAM by VAM, comparing your coins. That's what I do when attributing Morgans here at CCF.

That's what I've been doing. I guess I'll try again tonight. Gotta get ready for work.
