Very difficult question to answer. As you know coins are at the mercy of bullion prices---daily---(If talking about gold, silver or platinum). As for "other" non-bullion coins, that also is very difficult to answer. My first thought after reading your post is--What do you consider "short turn around"? In away, as you can see, no one else has responded yet to this post, thats how hard it is to answer--The "short turn around" part needs clarification tho--

Well, if you want to gamble with silver bullion coins, that's the only thing that has a chance of gaining funds in a month.

sharktoy, perhaps if you realized, most coin collectors will get irriated over the idea of making numismatics as an expensive hobby.

However, on the other hand, it's inevitable that there will always be such "investors". Perhaps your safe bet will be silver bullion, or alternatively, if you know what to look for, jump on the bandwagon of foreign coins such as Polish or Russian coins, although I will be cruel not to tell you what exactly. I personally don't see US coins as profitable except for key dates and rarities as there will always be demand.

First, if you are only going to concentrate on US coins, you should be getting a Red Book, which many US coin collectors will recommend. I don't collect US coins, so I can't comment how essential it is, although I hear it to be such. If you are looking for foreign coins, feel free to ask what catalogues are more suitable for the areas.

The real point is, if you are looking to make profit, a poor attitude will not get you very far. Real investors either take good time studying, or alternatively, have a professional doing their investment for them.
