gawd0wns- Yeah, those things are begging to be broken into. Frankly I am surprised that any company would actually invest in such machines since they could so easily bring losses to them.

Well, people don't hook their pickup to drag off the ATM with cash in it all that often, and those have like $20,000 in them. Not sure how much gold those things hold, but since it is in Dubai I think, they have pretty nasty laws against stealing.

Who carries $1200 to buy an impulse gold bar? Can they be my friends? :D Unless it dispenses grams there is really no point in making these machines widespread.

They cut off your hand for stealing an apple from a market in many parts of the Middle East....... so stealing an ATM ? ....... you might lose your H.E.A.D. on " that" one ! ....  As far as Italy and Germany go though........I bet some "heists" will be making the news at some point ! Edited by eaglefoot

I doubt they have islamic law in dubai, its a westernized country. At least to the extent of other places in the area. It's not like Saudi Arabia. Actually, my cousin's fiance is from there, and they're moving there after she gets married!

I thought there was a British couple in Dubai that got fairly hefty jail time for making out on the beach not terribly long ago.

I would assume that most transactions would be via debit/credit, and it would just withdraw the funds from your bank account. Interesting idea. Who knows, it may catch on. |

More likely would be the amount of muggings from people being followed away from those ATMs I would guess.
