From the RCM website:

Voyageur-RCM-Silver-Dollar---Pre-Sale

This dollar is part of a set inspired by Canada's circulation coinage from 1935 with the Voyageur silver dollar. Each coin is doubledated (1935-2010) and presented in an attractive maple wood display case.

Expected mintage of this set is 5000.

You have to be a Masters club member to see it. I am not, I don't usually buy from the Mint for various reasons.

Just wondering WHAT this has to do with Canadian coins?
Seems to me that the mint is strictly in business to make a bunch of coins exclusively for collectors....
seems like they forgot their mandate?

Their mandate is to sucker us into spending as much cash as possible just like other Crown corporations. They do a great job of it too.

Just consider it a voluntary tax HH and ante up.

Perhaps you think these thoughts are worth thinking about. They are not.

Good night to both of you.

yea well, I'm going to buy it..$159? I have always loved this design, plain and simple.
Even tho its got a small mintage of 5K, I'm not trying to make myself rich in buying it.

I don't like RCM products, but I think it would be wise to sometimes adhere by the motto "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." There's no need to disrespect others' collecting choices. This hobby is, after all, supposed to be enjoyable.

I wonder what reaction people would make if this design graced the loonie instead. It doesn't look that bad, but the double date is so distracting. This looks like a cookie cutter, especially with those overused tree templates from the 2010 olympics.

c_c: What are the specs on the coin?

This was supposed to be the design on the loonie, they lost the dies in transport and changed to plan B etc etc. Considering the reception the loonie received, it might have a been a happy accident.

If all the Mint pieces had a such a low mintage as this they might be in decent demand corresponding to their high asking price.

I bought one set. The price is extremely high as it is only sterling silver coins and copper for the 1cent. Minted at only 5000 set I think its a great collector investment as over a million collectors around the world collect the Famous canadian Silver Dollar.

Every time someone post a item related to the Canadian mint their,s alaways Mint haters posting the hate they have against the mint and their actions please stop it..... If you dont agree with the mint process of selling please just dont buy .....We have the chance to have 1 of the best mint in world , take it or leave it.

Anyway, This product is a must for all Canadian silver dollar and only 5000 will be able to get a hand on it , After sold out watch the price go up !

I don't actively hate the mint, reading it like that is a disservice to you and to me. Don't blow the comments out of proportion, I just said that I don't buy from the Mint and posting a link that requires a Masters club sign on to a public forum without providing the rest of the detail for those of us without that membership is a sign you can expand the post and it's information.

If all the Mint items were as low numbered as this one is, they would be vastly more interesting.

Not a Canadian collector but I don't like the large initials below the Stearn of the canoe.Takes away from the total effect.JMO.

What is included in the set? Thanks
Just as a comment if I may. Most of the items issued by the Mint can be bought at a discount from many sources. There are a few exemples of coins that will sell at a premium but you have to be fairly smart to guess which ones will become extremely popular.
