Mintage is set to 7500. A bit high... and with the additional 5000 for the sets this puts the release near the $1M dud threshold.

Thanks...think Ill roll the dice. Just purchased online the set.
Heres the link in case anyone else wants to do the same..
Come on, lets buy up all these puppies now, so the demand will be high in the near future. And we all know what happens to coin prices when there are high demands...$$$$$$$$. Also get yours now before the dealers buy them all up and charge a premium. Remember they got the capital to do so.

Half price? Maybe not these ones.

True, I do see coins 1/2 price or less. But they are never the ones I want.

Yeah that's often true. I thought those 2002 sets with the nostalgic patterns would have been more popular too.

Yeah that was it... wrong date by me. I've had four of them, one of the antiqued ones as well in stuff I've bought. They look nice enough, but trying to unload them was painful. I still have all that guys proof sets and most of his silver dollars come to think of it.

Ugly, for NCLT be careful. The equation:

mintage * price < $1M Dud threshold

For the 1998 sets : 25,000 * 100 = $2,500,000 --- a true dud

For the 2010 set: 5,000 * 160 = 800,000 --- close to a dud

Yeah it's a shame, but it seems everyone who has collections has some and you take the good with the bad when you offer to buy. He had dimes... such nice dimes.

Thanks for equation, spells it out succinctly.

An interesting question comes up when you get a division in any group, collectable vs classic.
I think they milk the collectibles to the point of absurd, however, the only way any collection has value is if there is demand for it. If someone enjoys the collectibles series it may lead to interest in the classics which makes the classic collectors inventory only more valuable. Buy and enjoy what you like.
I like a lot of it.
