Hi,I have found my first coin today. It is a george III silver sixpence dated 1816. I have never graded a coin before and would like someone to do a rough grade to give me an idea on how to, if possible a value as well but I know its not worth much these days.
Is it a metal detecting find?.. if so, then you are lucky, all I find in the UK are pennies and once or twice a Quid coin on the ground (I don't do metal detecting.. however I wish I would one day)! :))... Welcome to the CCF.
I found it whilst counting a lot of change for my farther in law, but hoping to do some metal detecting soon need to know what type of detector to use.
dafney_e; still a very very good find, congrats for you, the most interesting piece I find in the UK circulation is a couple of Isle of Man and Guernsey and several Gibraltar coins. You are luckier than I am! :))
Hello Dafydd, It grades as poor and looks to be slightly bent. To a collector it is of no value but it does have a very small intrinsic value as it is made of 0.925 sterling silver. John.
