I Deleted the 1st Paragraph as I had some mis information. Thanks Siuol. Please read Sioul's reply.

Now here are "faux error" (fake error) where the folks are straight up about how the errors were created.

Ceylon are you impling that the first note questioned is a faux error as well? It look legit to me. I'm pretty sure the BEP hasn't released any uncut sheets of stars for that year. Also the cuts seem to be very straight. Now the other "miscut" note is clearly an error. Even if the serial number didn't give it away the cut is noticably not straight. Do you know something about it I'm just not seeing?

In related news I reciently visited a local coin shop I had never been to before. They also had a rather extensive note collection including a lot of wildcat notes. There were some error notes as well. One error in particular caught my eye as faux. It was a 1 dollar FRN from Atlanta. Everything about it was normal execpt two things. There were only two 6s in the corners where ther is normally four and they were in the bottom corners not the top. Also the FRB seal was centered over Mary Ellen Withrow's signature (it was a 1995). The weird part was the signature looked like it was printed OVER the seal not the other way around. Also the serial numbers and the treasury seal were exactly where they were suppose to be. I didn't have a camera to take a picture with and even if I did have one I doubt I could have taken a picture without being kicked out. Has anyone ever heard of this type of error?

My apologies on the 1st link folks. Thank you Siuol for pointing it out and I have removed that link and paragraph. For some reason I thought it was a regular note and not a STAR.

Back to the topic - Yes there is an error called "Major misalignment of black portion of overprint". The 6 you speak of would have been very near the bottom or on the top but it's quite possible that it COULD have ended on the next note. These were notorious errors back in the 80's / 90's and happen when sheets stick together.

Prices per Sullivan's book for the error - F $75, XF $150, CU $300. Search for "misalignment overprint" and you should get some hits.

I questioned the authenticity of an error note and was close to being kicked out of the store and I am going to keep the camera in the car the next time around and take my chances. The way I look at it is that IF it's a real error and you want $300 for it WHY is the note not graded? When I asked this question the answer given was that's how I got it.
For $50 to $75 bucks yes I will gamble but not for $300.

Peace
